I’ve finished my LMQG challenge for this month using foundation piecing and loved doing it:) The central pentagon and star points were all done with this method. Putting the star and the surrounding black material together proved quite tricky and it is not perfect, but I think the over all effect of the design works pretty well.
Tips I found out along the way:
Use a small stitch size, this makes it easier to tear the paper away when finished
Use thin paper – again easier to tear, to see your design and it doesn’t blunt your needle so quick
Make your strips bigger than you think so you don’t end up with less than quarter inch seam to sew with – I did some unpicking at first
It’s a fun and easy method with fab results – I like it A LOT:)
