So close and yet so far…

25 Aug

…to use a cliché.  I have been busy today and each time I tried to sit down at my sewing machine something or someone appeared and distracted me.  That’s OK, it is the summer holidays and now that the rain seems to have set in for the time being the walls already seem to be closing in somewhat.  I did a little on my bag, I have to call it my bag now, as I like it so much that I will use it with much joy on a daily basis for quite some time.

Ooooh, I can’t wait to put up some pictures but it will have to wait ’till it is all complete and looking lovely, inside and out.  There are definitely a few things I have learned from the project and some things I won’t repeat again, that’s good, as the complexity of the idea, pattern and then the making of it throws things at you and you have to deal with the problems and try to change things so it works.  Sometimes the changes work and sometimes they don’t, fortunately this time they mostly have.  I look forward to showing tomorrow.

    My dear Dides ,
Your patchwork bag is WONDERFUL but I would imagine the binding would be difficult . There is a instrument which you can buy to make your own bias binding .You can get it in varying widths and so you could experiment with various fabrics and widths and see which works best .
Phone and we can chat. Havent heard from you for ages – or it seems like ages !!
    Luv you , Mum

Yes, looking at the binding it doesn’t give the patchwork bag the justice it deserves. So I am slowly trying to figure out another way so the finish on the bag looks as perfect as I can get it. Need to get sewing again.
