New onto the Old – How to Make Canvas Deckchair ‘Seat’

26 Apr

I bought this canvis fabric last spring and made a bag and a peg bag out of some of it.  So cute.

This classic deck chair has spent too long outside and the fabric on it was completely weather worn.

Here follows a quick ‘how to’ sew up a simple canvas seat…

Measure old fabric width and length (mine measures 132cm/52″ by 43cm/17″)  or measure the internal width of the horizontal slats on the chair.  Leave 4cm on each side and iron two folds of fabric for a bit of extra strength and neatness.

Sew a double row of stitches down the length of the canvas on both sides.
