First Quilt Sandwich and Lets Talk – To Pin or Not to Pin?

3 Sep

That is the Question.

I done it!  My first quilt sandwich, Yay!  I never thought I would ever say that and be so excited about it too.

can we talk pins now?  Do you think I need to put more pins into each section?  Help!

The squares of liberty prints have become slightly ‘larger’ as the calico shrunk after I gave the quilt top a wash…note to self for next time use similar fabric in the whole of the quilt.

I’m still pleased though, for a first attempt an all.

What do you do – pin, sew or spray your quilt sandwich?

Next up the Quilting and Binding…will chat soon, all about it:)

    Di,
OH, you must be very pleased. It is gorgeous and it is a thrill to see it “almost there” after a quick look at the pieces the the other day! Very impressed with your achievement XA

Nice job! You didn’t say if this is to be hand or machine quilted.. I pin every 4 inches for machine and looser for hand.. yes, I also spray and pin. Now that I have the longarm I don’t do either .. I know I’m very lucky! I also dont wash until I’m done quilting.. I don’t prewash either. I guess those are all personal preferences!

Thanks, I’ve machine quilted this one and although it is far from perfect I’m pleased to have got over the initial fear of doing it. I think I might have pins to scantily but in that I have learnt something already:) I will share some photo’s of the finished quilt later on today. My daughter has already claimed it as her own. Yay!
