I have been dabbling on the sewing machine since I was in my teens.  Me mum loves to sew and so I think I must have absorbed some of her love for sewing through the many a weekend I remember her at the sewing machine.   I was sent on three day sewing course in a holiday with a friend when I was twelve.

Since then I have made bits and pieces on the sewing machine, to a few years ago when I started making things for my first child, being a boy I found very little excitement in buying his clothes.  So many of them were blues, greens and ‘army’.  I became inspired by a gift someone gave my son and started making colourful and fun fleece appliquéd hats, scarves and mittens and other pieces of clothing.  I also tried my hand at a few dress up costumes for the boy.

The enjoyment I find out of creating something from pieces of fabric is exhilarating.

Over the past couple of years I have been using oilcloth as a fabric medium to make bags, purses and other small accessories for friends and family.  Since getting involved in blogging myself I have found other very inspiring blogs to help my own creative crafting further.  My mother too has played her part as she is a fibre art quilter and with her as a role model I am slowly venturing into this side of sewing.    I love looking at fabric and the tactile creative process fascinates me.

All work in progress with lots of fun.
